SUMMARY:VEPGA EEC Webinar - HB2001 Green Building Standards
DESCRIPTION:The next Education and Events Committee (EEC) webinar will be held Wednesday July 7th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. \nBeginning July 1\, 2021\, localities with population of 100\,000 or greater are required to incorporate high performance standards into certain new construction and major renovation projects. The requirement will extend to all other localities starting July 1\, 2023. \nThe locality must ensure that the building:\n1. Is designed\, constructed\, verified\, and operated to comply with a high-performance building certification program;\n2. Has sufficient zero emission vehicle (ZEV) charging and fueling infrastructure;\n3. Has metering of all electricity\, gas\, water\, and other utilities; and\n4. Incorporates appropriate resilience and distributed energy features. \nIn this webinar\, Elizabeth Beardsley with US Green Building Council will review the requirements and applicability of the new legislation\, and review frequently asked questions. Sandra Leibowitz with Sustainable Design Consulting will further explain the high-performance building certification component and illustrate the key similarities and differences among the three compliance standards referenced in the legislation via actual local government green building case studies.  A fact sheet about House Bill 2001 is attached. \n  \nTo register:\n1. DESCRIPTION:Quarterly meeting of the VEPGA Board of Directors.  All VEPGA members are welcome to attend. \nThe virtual election will be held prior to VEPGA’s regularly-scheduled November 5\, 2020 Board meeting.  Consistent with its Bylaws\, VEPGA is soliciting nominations to fill six vacancies on its Board of Directors.  Five of these vacancies involve expiring terms for current Board members\, all of whom have expressed an interest in continuing to serve.  If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors\, please notify me\, Sandy Harrington\, at your earliest convenience but no later than October 28\, 2020. \nVEPGA’s virtual election process involves several steps.  The following are key steps and dates in the process: \n\nNotice of nominees:  On October 29\, a week before the November 5 meeting\, members will receive an email that includes the Board’s proposed slate of candidates as well as nominations received from members in response to this message.\nFloor nominations:   Members may add to the list of nominated individuals by submitting “floor nominations” to me by 4pm on October 30.\nVoting:  All candidates for the Board will be listed in a Survey Monkey survey that will be emailed to members on Monday\, November 2.  Responses to the survey are due Tuesday\, November 3 by 4pm.\n\n  \nThe virtual election results will be announced at a brief VEPGA business meeting that will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday\, November 5.  This business meeting will convene immediately before the regularly-scheduled Board meeting. \nMeeting materials and further information can be obtained by contacting VEPGA’s Secretary/Treasurer\, Sandra Harrington\, at sharrington@vml.org or 804-649-8471.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an educational presentation hosted by the VEPGA Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee. \nLearn how you can monetize your facility infrastructure for curtailment and claim rebates for energy efficiency projects using the Department of Mines\, Minerals and Energy (DMME) blanket Commonwealth of Virginia Demand Response contract.
