July 7, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The next Education and Events Committee (EEC) webinar will be held Wednesday July 7th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM.

Beginning July 1, 2021, localities with population of 100,000 or greater are required to incorporate high performance standards into certain new construction and major renovation projects. The requirement will extend to all other localities starting July 1, 2023.

The locality must ensure that the building:
1. Is designed, constructed, verified, and operated to comply with a high-performance building certification program;
2. Has sufficient zero emission vehicle (ZEV) charging and fueling infrastructure;
3. Has metering of all electricity, gas, water, and other utilities; and
4. Incorporates appropriate resilience and distributed energy features.

In this webinar, Elizabeth Beardsley with US Green Building Council will review the requirements and applicability of the new legislation, and review frequently asked questions. Sandra Leibowitz with Sustainable Design Consulting will further explain the high-performance building certification component and illustrate the key similarities and differences among the three compliance standards referenced in the legislation via actual local government green building case studies.  A fact sheet about House Bill 2001 is attached.
